Commissioned Arrangements
- My fee for a commissioned arrangement is $300US.
- If the song is in the ArrangeMe song catalog, then the song is already cleared worldwide by Hal Leonard. There are no additional clearance fees but the commissioning group must also purchase copies of the completed arrangement so that the copyright holders are paid. If the copyright holder hasn’t been paid, the music is not legal. FYI, my commission on sales from ArrangeMe is 10% of the per-copy price. The rest goes to Hal Leonard and the copyright holders.
- If the song is not in the ArrangeMe catalog, the commissioning group must request clearance from the copyright holder and pay the required licensing fees, in addition to paying my fee. The licensing fee is set by the copyright holder; I have no control over it. The Barbershop Harmony Society can facilitate the request for singers in North America. Singers outside of North America will need to clear the song in their home country.

Mechanical licensing fees are the responsibility of the learning track purchaser. By purchasing learning tracks from arrangementsbysheryl.com, you agree to the responsibility of paying mechanical licensing fees for all copies that you make. You can learn about and pay mechanical licensing fees by going to the Harry Fox agency website (www.harryfox.com). Their licensing website is www.songfile.com.
Mechanical licensing fees are collected to pay royalties to the copyright owners. The cost for 2025 is 12.7 cents per copy with a minimum requirement of 25 copies ($3.18 per song) for songs up to 5 minutes in length. If the song is in the public domain, the copyright belongs to the arranger, and you will likely need to pay the copyright holder directly for public domain songs. Mechanical license fees are affordable and should be taken seriously. Please make your learning tracks legal.
